Endoscopy at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust, is looking to recruit a new Band 6 Sister to join the expanding Endoscopy team. We carry a service across two sites, providing a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures .
Our service is driving towards JAG accreditation, so there is the opportunity to grow within the role and progress in personal development. Endoscopy experience is preferred for this role to be able to support our 2 sited department, but not essential. Experience in a previous Band 6 position would be considered a huge advantage

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced nurse, ideally with some Endoscopy experience and/or previous leadership experience, who can demonstrate commitment to the provision of high quality person-centred care and who wishes to be part of this growing specialty. The post holder is required to be an exemplary role model and senior member of the team, demonstrating good organisational, managerial and leadership skills within the acute setting.
All Band 6 Sisters, Charge Nurses are to assume responsibility for a specified area/ areas of practice and will feed back to the Senior Sister/ Matron at meetings or as required, ensuring the continued development of clinical practice within the Unit.

Diagnostic procedures on the Ormskirk site, whilst Southport provides our inpatient service , therapeutic procedures and emergency GI bleed service. We are a fast paced, dynamic Unit averaging 40 patients per day.

- 24 months experience as NMC registered nurse
- Experience in an Acute clinical setting
- Experience with a leadership position/Prevoius Band 6
- Experience in Endoscopy
- Background in Theatre/day surgery
- Ability to lead, encourage and support a team.
- Excellent communication skills including when there are barriers to communication
- Leadership/Change/Quality Improvement experience
- Experience with stock management, rotas, appraisals, audits.
