Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a driven individual to be our Service Clinical Lead for the Oxfordshire Community Podiatry Service. You will work collaboratively alongside the Community Podiatry Operational Manager for the day to day running of this progressive service. This post also encompasses an integrated leadership role, working as Hospital Team Leader at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology which is located at the renowned Churchill Hospital site in Oxford.

Through this role, you will provide reflective assessment, diagnosis and treatment for conditions of the foot, ankle and related structures to improve mobility, reduce pain and maintain tissue viability of patients eligible for NHS podiatry in Oxfordshire.
You will further develop integrated working of specialist podiatrists across primary and secondary care to deliver new models of care, advancing clinical practice . Teaching will be a key component of this role. You will lead and co-ordinate clinical skills development and clinical audit for the whole service.
At OCDEM, you will take a key lead role as part of the multi-disciplinary Foot care team, caring for high risk foot patients , frequently undertaking clinic work at the Churchill site . You will also line manage an experienced team of Community Podiatry clinicians who spend part of their working time at OCDEM and part in the community .
NHS Podiatry services within Oxfordshire offer care to an increasingly interesting caseload with the emphasis of work focused on the care of the ‘At Risk ‘& ‘High Risk’ foot. This includes complex wound and ulcer care. Nail surgery sessions are also a requirement for this post.
Within this role, you will provide clinical leadership and expert podiatric interventions and advice. You will support the development of clinical standards through clinical governance and risk management activities, driving change to ensure best practice.

You will develop links and closer working relationships with colleagues across the community and hospital specialist units to ensure high risk foot patients are supported and receive timely follow up care in line with NICE guidance.
You will work with the Quality and Governance team, using Quality Improvement methodology to identify and explore potential service improvements and manage the clinical risks identified.
Requirements of the role will include some extended hours working, including weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota. You will need a full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
A range of bases are negotiable across Oxon for the right individual. However the post holder will frequently be required to work in clinics around the county plus attend meetings or training that will involve travel.

- • BSc Podiatry (or diploma in Podiatric Medicine with equivalent experience)
- • MA/MSc or equivalent level of academic ability/experience (or working towards)
- • HCPC registration
Knowledge and Experience

- • Post-graduate NHS work experience including experience treating high risk patients
- • Management/leadership experience
- • Comprehensive working knowledge of NHS podiatry service provision
- • Evidence of highly specialised treatment planning/patient management
- • Progressive clinical practice – effective analysis and decision making in wound management, offloading, biomechanical gait analysis and nail surgery
