An exciting opportunity has arisen for HCPC registered Physiotherapist to join the Acute Medical team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in the Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy Department.
We are looking for an appropriately experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for the assessment & management of patients from a wide variety of acute specialties. We can consider offering a development role for the right physiotherapist with condition of minimal 12 months of rotational experience.

Working on the medical wards requires you to demonstrate excellent problem-solving approach and fast/forward thinking. The ability to work within a fast paced and pressured environment is essential, along with having excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate has a passion for learning and educating others, high levels of drive for improvement of own skills and knowledge and is patient orientated.
As a static band 6 you will get opportunities to deputize for your clinical Lead and improve your leadership skills with appropriate training. It also offers the opportunity to engage or develop in service development projects and provide In Service Training for the team.
Candidates should be willing to support other team members, including junior Physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Our team covers a large footprint of the acute medical wards which will give you the opportunity to work in the following areas:
- Gastroenterology
- Endocrinology
- Haematology
- Oncology
- Infectious diseases
- General Acute Medical Wards
- Respiratory wards – including Critical Care Step down patients
- Support on Medical Enhanced Care Unit on weekends
This variety of patients and conditions we come across on a daily base allows you to extend your clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning. We are keen on working closely with other professions from the Multidisciplinary Team, including the Medical Team, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Dietetics, Nursing staff and Transfer of Care Team to provide a holistic approach and excellent patient care. This full-time post (37.5 hours per week) will require you to work across a 7-day period, working weekends on a roster basis and on-call responsibilities.
We will offer the following support:
- Professional support will be provided by the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist as well as the opportunity to engage in regular peer-supervision with other team members.
- Protected CPD time
- An individualized Job Plan which includes protected service development / audit time and regular Clinical Supervision
- Opportunity to contribute to wider departmental developments via Working Party groups
- Occasionally shadow other clinical areas if preferred to keep up to date with your Respiratory on Call skills
- Opportunity to undergo the Lung Ultrasound Course which is led by one of the Trusts Specialist Physiotherapist.
- Opportunity to expand Quality improvement skills and attend QSIR training if required and implement this in practice.

Essential criteria
- Post graduate NHS experience in general rotations including respiratory
- Management, Development and Supervision of students and Physiotherapy assistants
- Experience of teaching students and assistants
- Experience of service evaluation and audit process
- Participation in On-call Respiratory service
- Active participation in In-service training, working parties, etc.
Desirable criteria
- 12 months or more Band 5 Physiotherapy NHS experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Valid and up to date UK HCPC registration
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, Including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the speciality
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
