Job overview
We require a specialist SLT with post graduate experience in adult neurology, rehabilitation, and dysphagia to join the Band 6 rotations between stroke, neurorehabilitation, neurology, neuro-oncology and neurosurgery.
Patients will have a wide range of acute, chronic and progressive speech, language and swallowing disorders

You will join a team of SLTs which has a well-established system for formal / informal support and clinical / professional supervision. The SLT service has a very high profile within the multidisciplinary range of services provided.
The post offers exceptional opportunities to use specialist clinical skills and contribute to the research and teaching programmes within this highly specialised patient population. Knowledge & Qualification
Essential criteria
- Licence to practice as a Speech and Language therapist (HCPC)
- BSc. Speech Path or equivalent (including Dip. CST)
- Member of relevant Adult Neurology CENs
- Post graduate dysphagia trained
- Post graduate training in acquired neurological communication disorders
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post-registration experience within a neurorehabilitation or acute neurology setting
- Post-registration experience of assessing and treating adults with acquired neurological dysphagia
- Post-registration experience of assessing and treating adults with acquired neurological communication disorders
- Evidence of active participation in and/or experience in teaching in one or more of the following areas: • SLT in-service training • MDT in-service training • Student training • Internal/External courses • Joint sessions with junior staff
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of involvement in clinical governance programmes including one or more of the following areas: • Audit and clinical effectiveness • Risk management • Public patient involvement
- Evidence of supervision experience: • Band 5 SLT • SLT Assistants • SLT students
- Post-registration experience of videofluoroscopy
