Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Gwybodaeth
Our services
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has around 1.2 million patient contacts a year.
We provide healthcare to the people of Swindon and the surrounding areas, offering the latest treatments and care in hospital, in the local community and in people's own homes.
We provide a range of specialist services from the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, located just off junction 15 of the M4.
Our large and modern hospital has around 480 beds, numerous outpatient clinics, CT and MRI scanners, maternity services, an Intensive Care Unit, an Urgent Care Centre and a 24/7 Emergency Department.
We also support people to stay well and out of hospital, to manage long term conditions and provide care in local community facilities and in people's own homes across Swindon.
Our people
We have a team of 4,500 highly skilled, dedicated and compassionate staff working in the Great Western Hospital and within community healthcare facilities and people's homes across Swindon.
To find out more about joining the team please see Working for us.
Our management
As a foundation trust we are a membership organisation accountable to local people, patients, staff, members and governors.
We have 12,000 members living in our local communities who can have a say in how we provide our services.
Members' views are represented by a Council of Governors who can challenge the Trust Board on their decisions.
To find out more about the Trust Board please see Management structure.
We are always seeking to recruit new members - to find out more please see Members and Governors.
How we are regulated
We have more freedom to explore different ways of developing our services, but we are still closely inspected to make sure we meet rigorous NHS standards.
The independent regulators, NHS Improvement and the Care Quality Commission, regulate all foundation trusts to ensure that they meet the required national standards of quality, care and financial sustainability.
