The Chichester Assessment and Treatment Service is a dynamic and innovative community mental health team supporting people living with severe and enduring mental health problems. You will hold a caseload of people who are cared for within a recovery focused model of care designed to enable and encourage service users to develop positive coping strategies to maximise their independence and potential. You will work in partnership with a diverse team of clinicians and support staff including psychologists, psychiatrists, support workers and our third sector partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role is all about improving outcomes for this patient group, working creatively with patients and their carers to co-create care and risk plans that will help them achieve their goals and to live as independently as possible. This key to success is often about building effective partnerships with GPs, Crisis services, housing, third sector providers and accessing support from our specialist services, such as our Early intervention in Psychosis or Eating disorders services
Working in our team includes:
- Working autonomously as a Lead Practitioner to a defined caseload of clients. This will include offering specific interventions to people diagnosed with mood/anxiety disorders, psychosis or complex emotional difficulties.
- You will complete initial assessments and work closely with our referrals co-ordinators.

Successful candidates will be supported throughout their Preceptorship in the following ways:
- Access to training and relevant shadowing opportunities.
- Be line-managed by the Team leader in each placement
- Receive regular managerial supervision from their Team Leader and be given opportunities to participate in individual and group supervision.

- Access to numerous wellbeing and support programmes, run by our internal wellbeing team

- A position within a trust rated as ‘Outstanding’ for caring and ‘Good’ overall by the CQC

Effective communication and leadership skills, a sound clinical knowledge base, and a commitment to caring for patients in the community must be demonstrated. The post holder will work at all times to promote the safety and the wellbeing of clients and their families/carers. The post holder will assess, plan and implement care.

Essential criteria
- Bachelors degree at 2:2 or above supplemented by specialist mental health training with a significant supervised practice component and a curriculum including risk assessment, evidence based psychosocial interventions, recovery and treatment planning, and team working
- A specialist mental health focused postgraduate degree which delivers competences in recognised evidence-based psychological interventions
- Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning
