Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to cover a Clinical Pharmacist Neurosciences post during the current post holder’s secondment. This is an exciting opportunity for a junior pharmacist to step up to take over a key position in delivering excellent care to inpatients and outpatients at this highly specialised Neurology and Neurosurgical Centre.
The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) is the United Kingdom’s oldest and largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. We are part of University College London Hospitals NHS foundation Trust (UCLH) and we are linked with the University College London (UCL) Institute of Neurology. The hospital comprises 270 inpatient beds including a specialist neurosurgical-ITU and neuro-medical ITU, two busy outpatient departments and a day care centre. The NHNN is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, stroke and head injuries.
The pharmacy team is well integrated into clinical practice and works closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other ward staff to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy support for inpatients and outpatients.

We are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with the requisite knowledge, skills, experience and expertise to support and develop the high-quality pharmacy service to the Queen Square Division.
On a daily basis you will form part of a small team of pharmacists, technicians and ATOs delivering a thorough clinical pharmacy service to the hospital wards and the outpatient dispensary. This includes support and advice on ward rounds, co-ordination and monitoring of complex immunotherapies and immunoglobulin treatment for regular patients, staff education, medicines management, provision and setting up of homecare services for neurology and metabolic patients, and service delivery to high quality standards.
You will also work as part of our broader clinical pharmacy team and contribute to local and national initiatives to develop and enhance the pharmacy service and medicines management across the Trust.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BPharm degree or equivalent, and registration with Great Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner Four years post registration
- Clinical experience of general medicine, general surgery (including non-specialist neurology patients)
- Variety of clinical experience equivalent or working towards a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, or Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (DipGPP)
Desirable criteria
- Six years post registration
- Clinical experience of specialist neurology and/or neurosurgical patients (inpatient and outpatient)
- Higher degree in clinical pharmacy or a relevant speciality
