Would you like to make to make a difference to the nutritional care of inpatients?
We are looking a band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join the Acute Dietetic Team to work on the wards improving the nutritional care that we can provide for our patients within Blackpool Victoria and Clifton sites.

The successful candidate will have a defined caseload of patients, they will provide nutritional care plans and follow patients up appropriately under the supervision of a Dietitian.
Working with the multi disciplinary team on wards to improve the nutrition and hydration of patients.
Education on the wards for staff and patients regarding malnutrition screening tool, food fortification and menu systems.
Supporting the Dietetic team with reviewing patients requested by the supervising Dietitian and assisting in administrative tasks required for the team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Supporting the dietetic service in delivering care on your defined caseload.
Undertaking education sessions to staff as requested by the Dietitian.
Taking part in any audits as directed by the Dietetic Department.
Taking part in structured clinical supervision and staff meetings.
Undertaking clinical competencies designed by the Dietetic team.
Having a good understanding of the ordering system in the hospital for both food and nutritional products and being able to order these if required.
Able to access referrals and use the electronic record system as per policy.
Undertaking other activities as requested by the supervising dietitian
Travelling between 2 different hospital sites so own vehicle and valid driving license essential.

Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £25.50, Standard DBS check £25.50 and Enhanced DBS check £53.50.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.

Essential criteria
- NVQ level 4 in health or nutrition related subject or equivalent qualification.
- Or foundation degree in health or nutrition
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of recent study in relevant health care field
Experience and Skills

- Experience of working directly with patients/clients in a healthcare setting in the last two years.
- IT literate – able to use outlook, powerpoint MS teams
Desirable criteria
- Two years NHS experience in a direct patient care setting
- Previous experience of working with patient groups

- Experience of teaching others a new skill
