Job overview
A new opportunity is open to an experienced Occupational Therapist at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with significant experience in Orthopaedics. As part of a national transformation of Revision Knee services, the NNUH has become a Major Revision Centre, which requires the expansion of services for patients with problematic knee replacements. This requires forward thinking and dynamic treatments for these patients to address their individual needs and issues.
The new role will sit within the Knee Revision team at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital which currently consists of 5 Orthopaedic Consultants, 1 Knee Fellow, a Consultant Microbiologist and a Clinical Specialist Nurse. The focus of the non-surgical pathway is towards Mindfulness-based interventions, to help patients with the complex physiological and psychological issues, associated with problematic knee replacements, for whom further surgery is not appropriate.

You will be responsible for creating and delivering Mindfulness-based interventions specifically for this group of patients. You will work with the Knee Revision team to provide services which are tailored to the individual needs of these patients and continuously develop these services to ensure patients receive patient-centred care and treatment they need with the most up to date evidence-based practice.
You will have a pro-active role in developing, reviewing and updating patient information and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines relating to Occupational Therapy management of patients presenting to the relevant service/team.
You will also collaborate with the knee revision team to develop and deliver non-surgical pathways and interventions and ensure the Major Revision Centre is delivering effective and patient-centered treatments and care. This is in line with the Good Practice Guidelines published by the British Association of Surgery of the Knee, NHS England and GIRFT.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To be an expert clinical resource for the Occupational Therapy management of patients presenting to the Knee Revision Service, both within the Trust and regionally, as required.
- To be the clinical lead Occupational Therapist responsible for a defined area of work as specified within the Knee Revision Service.
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, maintaining a high standard of clinical care for patients.
- To be responsible for an individual caseload including prioritisation, assessment and management of patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions. Relying on expert clinical judgement and using highly analytical skills, to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment. To maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner.
- To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of Knee Revision non-surgical interventions provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
