Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) provides healthcare services locally, regionally and nationally. As a multiple award winning Trust we provide mental health services for young people, adults and older people, and have a full range of child and adult community health services in Enfield. Our North London Forensic Service treats and cares for people in the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions. We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

We provide specialist mental health services to the 1.2 million people living in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey over 20 main sites and a range of very specialist mental health services for people living further afield, including:

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Registration with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist.

Desirable criteria

Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of young adults across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
Minimum 1 years’ experience of working in a Mental health setting.

Desirable criteria

Experience of working in consultation and collaboratively with Social Care Teams.
Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies
