Job overview
A highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic individual who has a flexible approach to work is required to support the research work and development of Rural Health and Care Wales (RHCW), driving the programme of work forward from planning to implementation.
Rural Health and Care Wales (RHCW) is hosted by Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDdUHB) but is a collaboration that is funded equally by HDdUHB, BCUHB and PTHB. RHCW reports to the Mid Wales Joint Committee for Health and Social Care (MWJC) and has a supportive Stakeholder Group that consists of representatives from Ceredigion County Council, Gwynedd County Council, Powys County Council, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, Aberystwyth University, Bangor University, Cardiff University, Swansea University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, in addition to public and patient representatives from Gwynedd, Ceredigion and Powys, and GP and Community Hospital representation.
The small team of staff at RHCW have a varied and exciting work programme that focusses on health and care issues in rural areas, holding a prestigious annual Conference and regular Webinars to disseminate information.
This position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and is a permanent appointment.
Advert
To undertake research that is relevant to the RHCW Work Programme and support the development and execution of research and other projects.
To assist with the design and regular updating of project plans, milestones etc.
To track the progress of key documents and chase outstanding actions where applicable, involving liaison with both internal and external stakeholders.
Effective, professional communications with all stakeholders at all levels, whether face to face, via email, phone call etc. This would include answering queries, suggesting possible solutions, prioritizing and recognising when to escalate to the Head of RHCW.
To provide administrative services, including meeting arrangements, preparation of agenda, minute taking, following up on actions etc.
To collate and prepare reports and presentations with graphics / date and ensure their appropriate distribution.
To undertake specific project planning support and execution work as requested.
To participate in multiple research and development activities as directed.
To promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology.
To have the ability to work autonomously and use own initiative whilst keeping team members and others informed as appropriate.
To be able to prioritise workload and set / communicate realistic deadlines.
Working for our organisation
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
• Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
• Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
• 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
• Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services.
