Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nurse Specialist within Hywel Dda University Health Board.
We are looking for a dynamic practitioner who is committed to delivering holistic care to children and young people living with Oncological conditions in West Wales. The post holder will be expected to develop expert professional and clinical leadership skills to effectively care and manage this vulnerable cohort of children and young people.
The post holder will also work closely with both the acute and community nursing teams within our Health Board as well as work in partnership with our tertiary centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. The post holder will be expected to act as a specialist resource for children and their families as well as liaising with other partner agencies such as Education.
The role requires expert knowledge and skills to safely assess, manage and coordinate care planning for patients with oncological conditions. It will require the need to act as a key point of contact for all involved in the care of the child, whilst carrying out treatment plans in the community.
The post is part-time, 15 hours per week. The work is varied and offers opportunities to develop a broad range of specialised skills working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships. Providing opportunities to support both personal and service development is integral to the ethos of our service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

- RNCB Diploma/ Degree in Paediatric Nursing studies
- Postgraduate diploma level or equivalent experience
- Paediatric Oncology Nursing qualification, ENB 240 course or equivalent
- Teaching & assessing qualification
- To be chemotherapy assessed and competent or willing to update
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of Clinical Governance

- BSc (hons) Community Health studies - Community Children’s Nursing
- Bereavement/ counselling qualification
