Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified GPhC Registered Technician to join our Pharmacy Team working within the Aseptic Unit at Withybush General Hospital.
You will work with a highly skilled team which provides aseptically prepared medicines to a number of clinical areas across all 4 hospital sites within Hywel Dda.
We are looking for a conscientious individual, who is a team player, has a flexible approach towards the needs of the service, is self-motivated and able to demonstrate professionalism, possessing both excellent organisational and communication skills. The post is full time and permanent. Applicants will be required to take part in the weekend and bank holiday rota.
The post holder will work with the Senior Pharmacy Technician Quality Assurance to manage the unit's Pharmaceutical Quality System. This includes performing investigations, implementing changes and collecting data for quality meetings.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Advert
Duties will include preparing medicinal products, performing in-process checks, dispensing and checking outsourced medicinal products and performing the final check and release on aseptically prepared products.
Applicants must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC and must have achieved the Accuracy Checking Technician Accreditation (ACPT) in Technical Services and the Product Approval Accreditation Programme (PAAP). However, applicants who have not completed the Product Approval Accreditation Programme are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will need to attain the qualifications within a maximum of two years and will be appointed under Annex 21 rules. This means they will be supported by a development plan. (During the first year, payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 6 pay, and the second year 75%). Following successful passing of the qualifications the post holder will then be paid at Band 6 (minimum point on the scale). Support and supervision will be provided to develop the successful applicant to the Band 6 role. Failure to achieve the qualification in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
