Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Senior Clinical Fellow in Colorectal (Joint Position Medway, GSTT, UCLH)
Nodal Point – 4 - £51,017 p.a excl. LZ
Full Time – 40 hours per week
Fixed Term – 12 months starting October 2023
5 X 12 month posts (1 X 12 months St Thomas’, 2 X St T/Medway, 2 x St T/ UCLH)
Applications are invited for colorectal fellowships at St Thomas’ Hospital, Medway Hospital and UCLH. There are five posts available, one spending twelve months at St Thomas’, two spending six months at St Thomas’ and six months at Medway (swapping at 6 months) and two spending six months at St Thomas’ and six months at UCLH (swapping at 6 months).
The posts will commence from October 2023 for 12 months. Candidates should have completed their surgical training and have their CCT or equivalent, or be within approximately 6-12 months of obtaining for the CCT or equivalent.

The post holder will be a full member of the team, partaking in all ward rounds. You will be attached to different consultants for fixed periods to enable continuity between outpatient and inpatient experience. You are also encouraged to attend day surgery.
All working patterns are under continuous review in line with the New Deal regulations.

General Surgery at St Thomas’
The Department of General Surgery, is situated on the St. Thomas site, with the exception of some outpatient and diagnostic endoscopy facilities.
As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
MEDWAY NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
The Medway NHS Foundation Trust takes its name from the river running through the towns of Gillingham, Chatham, Rainham and the city of Rochester, known collectively as the Medway Towns, with a catchment area of 400,000.
The Trust covers an area of 162 square miles and incorporates the Swale Sector, comprising Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey. (population 104,283).
The Trust is committed to involving clinicians in the management of the organisation and Clinical Directors have been appointed, each of whom is supported by his own Directorate Management Team.
General Surgery at UCLH
The Division of Surgery comprises the following specialties: Urology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Gastroenterology. UCLH is a large tertiary referral centre for a variety of general and complex gastrointestinal surgical conditions. There are established links with Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Whittington Hospital as well as other units in the North Central London Sector.
