Job overview
12 months secondment opportunity
To monitor and maintain a robust pathway for patients tested within Emergency Departments for HIV and HCV. To be responsible for the cohesive working between ED, internal departments and external services. To ensure monitoring of results including ensuring repeat testing offered/arranged, signposting and referrals are actioned within necessary timeframes.
Perform venepuncture and Fibroscan® as required (training provided)
To effectively work across a range of IT systems ensuring timely results management and robust data collection.
To be a patient focused and compassionate.
To devise end to end audits and report findings to clinical leads/ managers.
To undertake any other duties which are deemed appropriate to the band when requested to by Senior Staff members.
Advert
Responsibilities include:
Ensure that all positive HIV and HCV reactive and non-negative results are acted upon in a timely manner. Always ensuring the the relevant CNS and Clinician have been informed as per results pathway.
Ensure that any patient whose sample is rejected by the laboratory is informed and offered repeat testing as soon as it is possible.
Ensure that all patient entries and demographic information are up to date and accurate, escalating concerns over delays appropriately
Support the specialist nurses with nurse-led clinic bookings, preparation, and clinical tasks such as venepuncture and Fibroscan® examination of the liver (in-service training will be provided)
Understands and follows the administrative input required to support the patient’s HIV and HCV pathway
Co-ordinate all administrative processes for each patient’s pathway to ensure it is managed smoothly and within agreed time frames.
Participate in the collation of data to inform service delivery and the ongoing management of the HIV and HCV pathway.
Telecommunications with patients to offer appointments within a timeframe, provide instructions, reminders, and information where necessary.
Ensure the patient understands their care pathway and is aware of appointments and any changes.
Process confidential patient-sensitive documentation to and from patients and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Maths and English GCSE’s at grade C or above
- Proof of CPD (continuous professional development)
- NVQ3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent (or equivalent experience)
Knowledge

- Understanding of clinical care
