We are recruiting now for Nurse Cadets to join us in September 2023
As a Nurse Cadet, you will be:
- Joining the NHS straight after completing your GCSE's...
- Working as an Apprentice Senior Health Care Support Worker on one of our Wards, three days per week
- Studying one day per week
- Earning while you learn
- Supported to progress after the apprenticeship finishes...
Upon successful completion, you are guaranteed interviews for:
- Studying a Nursing Degree at Oxford Brookes University
- A Health Care Assistant job role at Oxford Health
Or
- A Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship at Oxford Health

Nurse Cadets work on our Wards caring for patients, at the same time as gaining a Diploma in Health and Social Care, completing their Care Certificate and working towards completing National Apprenticeship Standards by having a dedicated day of study each week.

With a cohort size of around 12 Cadets each year, you're joining an expanding and supportive network of colleagues and professionals who are here to support you to succeed as you progress from leaving School to joining the world of work.
A four week induction period in September gives you the chance to get to know the other Cadets, as well as preparing you for life working on the Ward. You will also be supported by colleagues on the Ward, as well as our Team in Learning and Development at Unipart House.

What we need from you!
- You are a current Year 11 pupil
- Predicted Grade 4's (or above) in Maths and English
- Willing and able to work shifts:
- On weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays
- Early mornings and late evenings (You will not be required to work night shifts)
- Attend in-person interviews (Attendance on these dates is mandatory):
- Round 1 on the 22nd June 2023
- AND
- Selection Day on Friday 30th June 2023
Please note:
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
- Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
