Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the UK. At UCLH we are committed to delivering top quality care, excellent education and worldwide research. The therapy department is a friendly and supportive environment to develop clinical and project skills.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated physiotherapist with excellent communication skills and an innovative and flexible approach. You must be a team player with a broad range of student experience.
This role has 6-month rotations across a range of specialities including: Critical Care, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Oncology and Haematology, General Medicine, Musculoskeletal Outpatients. Rehabilitation and Neurology.
The rotations are across several sites including University College Hospital, UCH at Westmoreland Street, The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, St Pancras Rehab Unit (CNWL). On all rotations staff will either participate in 7-day services or weekend and on-call rotas.
We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement providing regular supervision and in-service training. Please only apply if you have a degree result and have your HCPC registration or it is pending.

- To provide high quality physiotherapy including assessment, treatment and advice to patients with various needs in a variety of settings.
- To work collaboratively with the MDT to deliver patient centred care.
- To participate in the Band 5 Rotational Scheme, this involves six monthly rotations in the following areas;
- Respiratory including Critical care, UCLH@Westmoreland Street, Acute Medicine and Surgery
- Neurology including Hyper acute Stroke Unit (HASU), Acute Brain Injury Unit (ABIU), Neurosurgery, neuro-medicine and neuro-rehabilitation (at NHNN)
- Musculoskeletal including Outpatients, Orthopaedics, Acute orthopaedic outpatients
- Rehabilitation and Medicine including Oncology, Haematology, Elderly Care, Infectious Diseases, Exercise Post (A rotation providing physical and therapeutic exercise within a Paediatric, Adolescent and Adult Cancer Services) and Intermediate Care (St Pancras Rehab Unit)
- To participate in weekend working, on-calls and 7-day services as appropriate for the rotation.

Essential criteria
- Physiotherapy HPC Registration (actual or pending)
- Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- CSP Membership (actual or pending)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a Health or Social Care setting.
- Completion of core student placements including: Respiratory and ITU, Neurology/Rehabilitation, Care of the Older Person and Musculoskeletal Outpatients
- Knowledge of general conditions seen in Physiotherapy including respiratory, outpatient/orthopaedics, neurological and care of the older person
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working as a Band 5/student in the area of cardio-respiratory
- Previous experience of working on a cardio-respiratory on-call rota
- A wide range of student placements including: paediatrics, oncology, orthopaedics, hydrotherapy, community, women’s health
Communication & Customer Care

- Able to present written and spoken English in a clear and logical manner including the ability to meet UCLH Trust documentation guidelines
