About
We provide a full range of acute clinical services from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We are a designated cancer centre and have recently invested in a number of additional specialist services, including in-patient renal services and interventional cardiology. All elective inpatients and emergency admissions are screened for MRSA. As part of our work to improve clinical outcomes we are taking part in a national patient safety programme and have invested in systems to capture patients views on the service we provide. We understand that sometimes a small change can make a big difference for patients.

Are you an International Nurse looking to join the NHS and be part of our fantastic team in Northampton General Hospital?
Have you passed IELTS/OET, and CBT and been invited by the NMC to undertake your OSCE exam?
If so, we are keen to receive your application and be part of our growing team.
You will initially join as a pre-registration nurse Band 4 and will participate in our intense 6-week tailor-made OSCE preparation programme. During this time, you will be supported by our Practice and Development team which will provide you with the necessary assistance you will need to pass your OSCE.

Supporting Clinical Excellence
Role of a Pre-Registered Nurse
- As a pre-registered nurse – pending qualification and professional registration – you are personally accountable for your practice whilst strictly adhering to the restricted practice put in place until you receive your NMC PIN number
- Support the registered nurse to develop and implement a plan of care which is evidence-based and planned in partnership with the patient wherever possible
- Support the registered nurse to evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing care provided and makes adjustments to the care plan as delegated by the registered nurse, reporting changes as necessary to the registered nurse
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with NMC ‘Guidelines on Record Keeping’ and Trust policies
- Support the registered nurse in ensuring that multi-disciplinary care programs, as identified through ward rounds or multi-disciplinary meetings, are implemented where delegated by the registered nurse
- Ensure medicines are stored in accordance with the Trust Medicines Code and NMC Guidelines for the Administration of Medicines. The unregistered nurse may not administer or act as a second checker for medications in any circumstances.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Role of Registered Nurse
- Assisting and contributing to managing and organising a ward and clinical area.
- Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
- Actively participate in other staff members' education, development and supervision.
- Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and Learners on placement within the clinical area.
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- To maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating
- To coordinate the patient’s discharge arrangements in accordance with NGH Discharge policy.
- To educate patients and their careers as required where a need has been identified.
- To complete patient documentation correctly.
- To maintain a safe clinical environment.
- To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
- To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication, written and verbal.
- To ensure patient confidentiality.
- To supervise junior staff in the delivery of care.
- Responsible for the safe supply, storage, administration, checking and disposal of medications, including controlled drugs.

- Work with the senior nursing team and other ward sisters/charge nurses to achieve the nursing strategy objectives.
