There is an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Dental Nurse position to support Dental Nurse Apprentices whist completing the Dental Nurse Apprenticeship, working alongside the Dental Nurse Tutor team, within the School of Dental Nursing.

To work flexibly within the school of Dental Nursing to provide day to day operational management of the Dental Nurse Apprentice cohorts.
To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient management and training of Dental Nurse Apprentices.
To educate and develop dental nursing teams to respond to the clinical advice, guidance and support apprentices need whilst on clinical duties within the Dental Services and external clinical placement sites.
To support the delivery of dentistry and development of the service.

Operational Duties:
- Maintain records for Dental Nurse Apprentices attendance (i.e. Sickness) and ensure this information is communicated to the Dental Nurse Manager.
- Conduct attendance interviews and prepare associated paperwork (panel meetings when required)
- Manage apprentices on Electronic Staff records computer system
- Conduct monthly meetings with HR representative
- Liaise with the Dental Nurse Manager and other Senior Dental Nurses to ensure apprentices are employed appropriately on clinics.
- Liaise with Dental Nurse Manager and other Senior Dental Nurses to ensure correct training needs are met for apprentices whilst on clinical duties.
- Monitor and facilitate attendance for mandatory training requirements
- Support the wellbeing of apprentices and request Occupational Health referrals and sign posting where necessary.
- Ensure the clinical logbooks are being completed by apprentices and support staff.
- Develop staff knowledge and skills to promote equality and diversity and address inequalities both in employment and service delivery. Ensure specific equality objectives are include in PDR’s
- Organise and co-ordinate clinical placements
- Complete risk assessments for BDH and Community placements, ensuring follow up action is completed.
- Complete probation reviews with apprentices throughout the year in liaison with Dental Nurse Tutors.
- Complete progress reviews throughout the year in liaison with Dental Nurse Tutors.
- Attend Learning and Development/School of Dental Nursing Apprentice meetings
- Maintain discipline and professional conduct amongst Trainee Dental Nurses.
- Prepare Apprentices for the End Point Assessment
- Have an awareness of ACAS terms and conditions.
- Adhere to procedures to support, maintain and achieving national targets.
- Ensure to implement agreed Hospital, local and Trust Policies.
- Manage and support the resolution of complaints.
- Assist with recruitment and selection of new apprentices.
- Assist with the implementation of the Apprentice Induction programme
- Attend Clinical rota meetings as required.
- The post holder will be expected to participate in continuing Personal Development (CPD) through the Personal Development Review (PDR) process
- To maintain General Dental Council (GDC) registration
- To achieve the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours as specified by the GDC.
- All staff will be expected to complete Trust mandatory training and any other identified “essential to role” training.
- Liaise with Dental Nurse Tutors to ensure Dental Nurse Apprentices achieve their objectives and specialist knowledge whilst within the service.
