We provide a wide range of healthcare services delivered by 8,600 highly trained staff and volunteers. Our services cost over £400m each year to provide and we invest around £18m each year in improving our clinical services by replacing and upgrading our medical equipment, modernising our estate and facilities and improving our information and technology infrastructure. In an average year, we treat more than 180,000 A&E patients, nearly half a million outpatients and almost 100,000 inpatients.

Job overview
The Emergency Department at Pilgrim Hospital are seeking HCSW(s). This is a great opportunity to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment whereby two days are never the same. The successful candidate(s) will be required to work both the day and night shifts which will include bank holiday and weekend working.
The successful candidate will work alongside a registered nurse delivering personal care, sufficient hourly rounding as well as assisting with nutritional intake. We strive to ensure a positive experience for our patients and we appreciate that the HCSW role is a key part in delivering this high quality care.
After a settling in period, all newly appointed HCSWs will be supported to gain further extended skills such as venepuncture, cannulation and the recording of ECGs.
We are supportive and dynamic team which is fast approaching new and exciting times with a planned new build of the Emergency Department which we hope will enhance patient experience and individual opportunities available.

The Emergency Department at Pilgrim Hospital is seeking to recruit Health Care Support Workers to join the team.
As a Health Care Support Worker, you will be responsible for working under delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse in delivering a high standard of care to our patients in accordance with individualised care needs, utilising flexible, innovate and effective practice that demonstrates that our patients are at the centre of everything we do.
Working the multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be adaptable to rapidly changing situations, as well as having understanding of the need for confidentiality. The individual should have the ability to work using their own initiative and as part of a team. Good time management and organisational skills are also essential for the post. Effective communication skills and motivation to work in a clinical environment are essential.

Essential criteria
- • Literacy and numeracy qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills level 1 or above (e.g. GCSE grade E or above)
