The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services for a catchment area of up over 1 million people. Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 30th April 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, finance professional to join the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals working in conjunction with the neighbouring Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn and James Paget University Hospitals in Great Yarmouth as Project Accountant for the delivery of the N&W Diagnostic Assessment Centres (DAC).
The post holder will be involved in complex financial planning in respect of the preparation and agreement of both project and the overall programme budgets and managing the inter-relationships between the two throughout the delivery of the DAC programme, which has been designed to provide superb patient care through dedicated outpatient imaging facilities.
You will be an integral part of the Programme Office working with all members of the team, as well as trust leads to support delivery of the financial aspects of the DAC Programme, ensuring that the Programme is delivered in line with the financial case included within the approved business case.
The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified member of a CCAB professional body with significant programme and project accountancy experience. You should be able to evidence continuous professional and personal development and have experience of working in a large and complex organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a nationally recognised £85.9m transformation programme, the largest capital investment in the N&W ICS in the last 20 years.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates:
- To work closely with members of the Programme Management Office as well as trust department leads in order to support delivery of the financial aspects of the DAC Programme.
- To provide financial support to the Programme Management Office and Programme Board to ensure that the Programme is delivered in line with the financial case included within the approved business case.
- The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the day to day financial monitoring of the DAC contract and advising on the financial implications of the contract
- The post holder will take the lead responsibility for their area specifically in relation to the DAC project and the relevant service area helping to manage, interpret and advise on all financial matters
- To provide financial advice and information to the Programme Management Office, Programme Board, Trust Directors of Finance and the Norfolk and Norwich CFO as the Programme’s financial lead, as required.
- To work with budget holders across the Trust to ensure that they working within Trust policies, procedures as well as within all relevant and applicable accounting standards and DHSC requirements. To provide expert advice to budget holders in the application and compliance of Trust policies and procedures.

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
