Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. To provide a general clerical service for the Acute Oncology/CUP clinical team. To do audio-transcription of clinic letters, results and discharge letters, and to provide a general clerical service and support for medical secretaries throughout the Oncology Directorate.
Advert
- Audio transcription of Consultant Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Discharge letters, investigation result letters and other correspondence ensuring all is prepared for signature promptly and to a high standard.
- Receive incoming referrals for Acute and CUP teams, complete patient cards and distribute. Advise relevant consultants and update relevant spreadsheets.
- Deal with telephone enquiries as and when required in an efficient, tactful and diplomatic manner, ensuring that any message/information is passed on quickly.
- Locate, track and collect case notes using the hospital’s HISS computer system as and when required.
- File patient investigations and correspondence.
- To organise 3 - monthly Acute Oncology Team Meeting with day unit, monthly acute meetings and the monthly mortality meetings. To liaise with consultants re Proformas, send out invites, minute & type up meeting, distribute minutes to relevant parties and update and amend as necessary, provide relevant data needs for each meeting.
- Data collection, inputting relevant data onto the appropriate systems and producing relevant figures, reports and graphs onto the appropriate systems.
- To collect and distribute post on a daily basis
- Distribute (under direction of the team) and collate Acute and CUP surveys on appropriate systems and produce reports as requested.

The Trust houses a state of the art Simulation & Skills Facility that provides training for all grades of staff to improve the safety and quality of the service that we offer our patients.
We run a portfolio of in-house courses that can be accessed by all staff to enhance their professional development needs. The training is supported by the use of modern equipment including part task trainers for such skills as venepuncture and full body manikins for the practice of emergency drills.
