Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) is building a new Mental Health Inpatient Service in Chertsey, Surrey.
Silverwood will contain four adult inpatient wards and is due to open in Autumn 2024. Our ambition is to transform inpatient mental healthcare for our local population.
The new unit will provide 64 beds all with single ensuite bedrooms, two lounges and a dedicated garden for each ward, as well as a woodland area for supervised walks.
For our colleagues working here, there will be access to kitchenettes, a lounge, and a dedicated garden. There will also be an education suite with state-of-the-art digital equipment.
We are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor who will be responsible for providing clinical input and working alongside a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working.
Our offer:
- Salary: NHS Specialty Grade £59,195 - £95,400 + £149 fringe, + on-call payments

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and review of management plans for service users. Flexible review and reassess service users to assess their response to treatment and their readiness to access other parts of Acute Care Pathway.
It is expected that the Specialty Doctor would support any trainees attached to the team. All the work of the Specialty Doctor will be under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist.
The Specialty Doctor will also be expected to show an interest in developing a wide range of psychiatric skills, including group work, maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the latest psychotropic medication and a basic competency in neurology.

- MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
- Full medical registration with a license to practice
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent

- Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
Eligibility

- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
