- Facilitate the continuity of the patient’s journey, ensuring the patients passes through the investigation/management process with minimal delay and within a safe environment.
- Provide care in the clinical area as an effective member of the clinical team.
- Accountable for own professional actions including the reporting of findings / histology.
- Responsible for monitoring and actioning any concerns around clinic activity.
- Responsible for decision on further management of patients, organising and assessing investigation results.
- Explain all investigation results to patients, arranging further appointments and or discharge.

- Ensure awareness of developments within the specialty and in conjunction with current developments.
PROFESSIONAL
- Ensure the assessment, development; implementation and evaluation of individual programmes of care are met in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the policies of the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
- Participate in the formulation of clinical policies, guidelines, protocols and procedures for the care of women.
- Participate in the setting, monitoring and auditing of quality assurance standards.
- Participate in nursing, multi-professional research and audit to improve care and promote clinical effectiveness.
- Identify the need for change and participate with the planning, implementation and evaluation to meet the future needs of the service.
- Ensure the standards of record keeping are in accordance with agreed guidelines and protocols to maintain the safety and confidentiality of such records.
- Ensure professional co-operation is given to medical, nursing, ancillary and support workers in solving care related problems.
- Ensure professional involvement in benchmarking programmes.
- Provide written reports as requested.
- Assist with complaints by patients, members of the public and staff in accordance with Trust policies.
