Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Information Governance and Management team.
The Health Records Department provides services to clinicians, managers and staff on behalf of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
This is a new, varied and challenging role in a complex and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a NHS environment and have scanning experience.
To succeed in this role; you will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop working relationships with both clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels.

Preparation and Scanning
First line quality assurance of paper health records prior to entry in to Cito
The first line quality assurance of scanned images (QASI) of records entered in to Cito
Adhere to the standards set out in the Trust’s Scanning and Quality Assurance of Health Records Procedure
Scan set amount of documents in the agreed timescales, i.e. 72 hours
Report monthly on performance, ensuring Key Performance Indicators are captured accurately
Duplicate Registration
To ensure all identified duplicate registrations are resolved on Epic
Merges health and dental records (on paper and electronically) for patients with duplicate numbers
Amends overlapping admissions
Escalate any concerns as appropriate to the Data Quality Officers and/or the Deputy Health Records Managers
Liaise with the National Back Office as appropriate
Liaise and work closely with King’s College health records team

To maintain a professional attitude towards all services at all times
Ensure retrieved paper health records from off-site storage are tracked appropriately and reach their destination in a timely manner
Ensure paper health records are stored, tracked appropriately and returned to offsite storage in a timely manner
To adhere to the Trust and departmental health and safety polices and procedures when moving and handling case-notes, whether individually or boxed by using the manual aids provided. (e.g. trolleys)
To ensure the scanning bureau is left in a neat and tidy order at all times
To escalate any IT issues to the IT service desk promptly, ensuring the Data Quality Officers are kept informed of any issues
