Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Chief Nurse Office for a 12 month secondment Matron’s post for the Quality and Accreditation team.
The accreditation programme measures and evaluates the quality of care delivered within clinical areas. It has been implemented in adult in-patient areas across the organisation and the post holder will be an integral part of the further co-creation and implementation of the foundation accreditation tool across specialist clinical areas. You will be working within the team with a focus on the trust quality priorities and N&M fundamentals of care with the aim of driving a culture of continuous improvement and preventing harm to our patients.
We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced nursing leader who can demonstrate strong clinical and strategic leadership skills, the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries, as well as create an enviable culture of caring and compassion.
To apply for this post you will be able to demonstrate significant experience in a clinical leadership role with strong evidence of quality improvement work and drive for continuous improvement. With the new trust electronic health record system (Epic), the post holder will need to be IT literate and able to use analytical and judgement skills when reviewing complex data.

The post provides an opportunity to work within the Chief Nurse Office supporting the Head of Nursing and Deputy Director of Nursing for Quality and Accreditation to achieve excellence in Nursing and Midwifery practice whilst supporting the organisation to move from a CQC rating of good to outstanding. Through strong clinical leadership the Matron will support the accreditation team to promote excellence in nursing and midwifery care to continuously drive improvement.

The post holder will be required to analyse complex data and or national guidance and be able to interpret and apply it locally.
