Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. An exciting opportunity to join our team, where you will be working within a large critical care multi disciplinary team. You will also deliver safe, effective patient care to our patients, with opportunities for further development and career progression throughout your career.
You will support and work closely alongside both Critical Care staff and our Allied health professionals, to identify, prioritise and meet the individual needs of patients. You will demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practice when delivering care.

You will be working within your standard of practice, (SOP) to assist in the planning, delivery and monitoring of Level 0 to Level 2 patient care, within the critical care environment. You will be working alongside and under the direct supervision of Critical Care registered Staff. As an example, but not exclusive to, you will be assisting with the admission and discharge process of patients within the Critical Care Unit. Monitoring and recording of basic observations, documenting all aspects of care delivery, 12 lead ECG recording, providing pressure area care as per Trust policies and procedures, assisting with moving and handling of all critical care patients, suctioning, tracheostomy care and safety, mouth care, maintaining accurate fluid balance recording, supporting medical staff with line insertion, removal of lines when directed to, and participating in critical care handovers.
- To priorities and deliver Level 0 to Level 2 patient care as needed within the scope of the Band 3 HCA role; report and feedback to CC staff directly the ongoing care delivery and patient response to interventions; reporting immediately to the Nurse in Charge any adverse events/incidents.

Please note, you will be required to repay the cost on appointment. This will be collected via a salary deduction. You can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months from your salary or as a one-off payment on commencement in post. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered. Currently the charges are - Basic DBS check £22.00, Standard DBS check £22.00 and Enhanced DBS check £42.00.
You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £13. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
