Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Working on day to day challenging calls to multimillion pound projects to keep staff working and up to date and providing better patient care.

The N&S team support a highly complex operation and administration of multiple critical services. Including :
- LAN – supporting Access Layer
- Data Centre Connectivity
- WLAN – Large WLAN estate to support mobile users including Critical Clinical applications and Wireless VoIP
- WAN – Wide Area Network / External networks (connections to all existing and new satellite sites)
- Security systems – Firewalls, Mail Filtering, Web Filtering, RAS, S/FTP, Certificates
- KHP Interconnect – Kings Health Partnership
- Internet and HSCN (NHS Network connecting to all NHS Sites and Some suppliers)
- Protection of Patient Data from malicious attacks and Proactive management of security events
- Transportation and Support of the VoIP telephone system.

- Integral Transportation of other trust wide critical systems - Crash Call, Bleep, CCTV and Door Activation

This role will hold responsibility for managing and maintaining the network and security infrastructure services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year across the Trust sites plus our off site services. The position holder will be expected to keep calm under pressure, focused and deliver to a high standard. The post will cover installations of new equipment, capacity planning, documentation, monitoring, mentoring, highly complex troubleshooting and problem solving and supporting laymen to decide on best solutions for their problems.
Working for our organisation
The Directorate provides services and products that are used across the Trust. We work closely with the South East London Integrated Care System, and especially with our partners in Kings Health Partners (KHP), Kings College Hospital (KCH), King’s College London (KCL) and the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust (RBH). This will be formalised into a shared service operating model that will be deployed across GSTT, KCH and RBH. Our operating model has been revised in 2020 to position the Directorate as a lean agile organisation which delivers the Trust’s digital ambition. The key characteristics of this operating model are:

- Significant investment in a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) which will catalyse a Trust-wide programme of work to transform the way technology and data is used across our services

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Further responsibilities include supporting the business to deliver all requests and projects, identify and resolve all issues whether they are raised by the business through service desk request or they have been identified by Network Management support tools or through analysis of trends.
- One of the key job responsibilities for the post holder is to be able to act on their own initiative and manage multiple work streams at once
- Working as part of an ON CALL team you will be expected to react to OOH (Out of Hours - 24*7*365/6) issues.
