We are also committed to increasing diversity in the workforce, that is why we actively encourage applications from those groups of people who are currently under-represented, which include amongst others: people with disabilities; men from all socio-economic backgrounds; people from diverse ethnic backgrounds; and people from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Are you a qualified Psychiatric Nurse or Occupational Therapist passionate about mental health and supporting people with severe mental illness towards their recovery in their community?
Are you excited by the idea of the chance to be a part of working in a new team?
If so, then why not consider applying to become part of the newly created Wantage and Faringdon Team that is part of our broader South Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT)!
We have been up-and-running since February 2023 and have quickly become a friendly, motivated and well-functioning team, made up of a mixture of experienced and recently qualified staff.
We are seeking a mental health nurse or OT to join our team.
You will be based in a newly refurbished office within Wantage Community Hospital, which is within short walking distance of the town centre.

This role will involve assessing people newly referred into the team, providing follow-up as required (which may often be brief interventions) with the aim of meeting goals agreed upon collaboratively with the individual. The assessments will usually be completed with a colleague, and you will be able to consult with the wider team (including with medics) following your assessments.
The role will also involve holding some cases for people already under the care of the team who require longer-term follow-up. In these instances you will be playing a crucial role as part of an multi-disciplinary team in that person's recovery.
As a team we are aiming to provide an excellent service for our local community, and are seeking candidates who share our passion and enthusiasm.
You will need to be able to work autonomously in being able to hold a caseload of patients. You will have experience with the CPA process (albeit this is a model being moved away from nationally) and able to assess and plan treatment with service users. You will also be able to critically assess and manage risk, including the use of Safeguarding processes.
