Advert
In addition, there is a large service of General and endocrine surgery and we are also part of the National Organ Retrieval Service. Our transplant programme cares for both adults and children. This appointment offers an excellent opportunity for candidates to gain experience in both transplant and general surgery with full participation in a rota at registrar level, including scheduled emergency lists and elective opportunities. This post is not recognised for postgraduate training, however there will be excellent exposure to elective and emergency surgery and there will be ample opportunities to develop skills.
The role of the post is to support the large clinical service in General Surgery and Transplantation. It is anticipated that the appointee will gain good experience in all aspects of renal and pancreatic transplantation, renal-related surgery, and in multi-organ retrieval and General Surgery and
endocrine surgery.
The appointee will have an integral role in the Manchester organ retrieval team. The post-holder will be accountable to the Clinical Lead, and will also be expected to work closely with colleagues at all grades in nephrology. It is not anticipated that this post will provide extensive experience in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy.
