Job overview
The role of advanced physiotherapist within the pelvic health team delivers high quality and innovative care as part of a wide MDT.
Applicants should have a wide range of experience as a Band 6 or 7 pelvic health physiotherapist.
This post offers a development opportunity with the expectation to progress with the team from a band 6 to a band 7, using the band 7 competencies which would be outlined at the start of the role. A candidate already working at band 7 level would be offered the post at band 7.

Advert
- The role carries a caseload of complex pelvic health male and female patients referred from the Uro-gynaecology and Urology medical teams.
- The delivery of care will be through telephone, virtual and face-to-face consultations for common pelvic health conditions such as gynaecology surgery, postnatal perineal trauma, and antenatal/postnatal continence care.
- The post will predominantly involve work within the outpatient setting however there may be a requirement to work on the inpatient wards.
- In addition, they will oversee the clinical education of physiotherapy students and will be responsible for the day–to-day management of (when applicable) the Band 6 and Band 2 therapy staff. Audit and evaluation of this service is a key component of the work, as is innovation in practise and actively promoting the role of pelvic health physiotherapy in the recovery from pregnancy, perineal trauma and gynaecology surgery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Band 6:
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care (assessment, treatment and advice) to a complex patient group in the Pelvic Health specialty.
Band 7:
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to a highly complex patient group referred by the Women’s Services Directorate (and Urology)
- To provide the day-to-day support to the senior physiotherapist and the physiotherapy support staff working into Pelvic Health

Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy
- State Registered with Health & Care Professions Council
- NHS experience in a rotational post providing a broad range of experience across the core areas of physiotherapy
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Advanced knowledge of a range of medical conditions and their impact on patient’s functional abilities.
- Sound knowledge of the physiotherapy process
- An ability to apply evidence-based practice related to the speciality
- Organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and as an autonomous practitioner.
- Commitment to personal, professional, and service development
- Ability to present information, in a clear and logical manner
- Able to cope with physical demands of post including using wheelchairs and hoists, therapeutic moving and handling of patients and application of a range of manual therapy techniques
