JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Executive, and forming part of the Trusts Executive Team, the Executive Chief Nurse (ECN) will provide the vision and leadership for the development, implementation and delivery of a Trustwide Nursing, Midwifery and AHP strategy both across all Trust services and the region.
The ECN is a voting member of the Trust Board, with shared responsibility for corporate leadership, strategic development and planning, performance and governance of the Trust. They play a key leadership role in change management programmes and championing new and innovative ways of working to enable service transformation, thus maximising the benefit from investment and improving healthcare.
As a member of the Executive Team, the post holder will support active engagement of Board members by ensuring the strategy influences and shapes decisions
taken across the organisation, with shared responsibility for corporate leadership, strategic development, business planning, performance and governance of the Trust
service and financial prioritisation.
As ECN the post holder has board level responsibility and accountability for the professional leadership of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and associated workforce. The post holder is responsible for discharging full statutory responsibilities to ensure that the Trust is compliant with appropriate policy and practice in the management of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals (AHP). This includes providing professional and clinical leadership to all nursing, midwifery issues and allied health professional (AHP) staff across the organisation to ensure excellence in nursing care and clinical service delivery through the highest standards of professional practice and clinical performance.
The ECN is lead Board Director for infection prevention and control and will work in partnership with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control to develop, implement and monitor adherence to clinical policies and procedures, to drive reduction of health care acquired infections. Along with the Medical Director, the post holder is also lead Director for informing, advising and supporting the Board to understand how strategic decisions impact on the quality and safety of patient care and the patient experience.

- Extensive record of successful workforce, financial and resource management, ensuring high performance and holding individuals to account.
- Experience of managing substantial revenue and capital budgets.
