RESPIRATORY TEAM
Apprenticeship (Respiratory/Sleep Physiology)
We are recruiting for an Apprentice Respiratory Associate Practitioner who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.
We have two laboratories offering a wide range of investigations including spirometry, gas transfer, body plethysmography, arterial blood gases, polysomnography, CPAP and non-invasive ventilation treatment. The Pulmonary Function/Sleep Team also works closely with the Respiratory Consultant, Specialist Nurses and Rehabilitation Team offering a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
The two-year Level 4 Apprenticeship (Respiratory/Sleep Physiology) involves on-the-job training (ARTP spirometry practitioner course leading to certification and registration in spirometry and ARTP Associate Level II) and completion of a Healthcare Science Respiratory and Sleep Diploma.
Annex 21 will be applied to salary for the duration of the training programme which is expected to take 2 years (please see attached guidance)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
If you are looking to develop a career in Respiratory Physiology, we can offer the training and experience to build a solid foundation within the profession.
To support the Clinical Psychologists in the delivery of agreed standards of care to all patients.
To provide administrative support for the Clinical Physiologists.
To support respiratory clinics in the need of spirometry, full lung function tests and CPAP clinics.
To ensure that relationships and own behaviour is managed in line with the Behavioural Framework competencies.
Entry Criteria
As a minimum Level 3 Health and Social Care (or another qualification at the equivalent or higher level) and G.C.S E A-C in the following subject areas:
- Maths
- English or English language
- Biology or Human Biology
- Science

- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

- ARTP lung function certificate and professional exams.
- Completion of Foundation degree in Health and Social Care.

- High level of dexterity and manipulation skills.
- Must be computer literate and able to use software related to clinical applications.
