The ward consists of 32 beds and is led by  approachable Ward Manager supported by four Ward Sisters. The ward is mixed speciality ward with two Consultants specialising in Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation (20 beds) and Acute Medicine (12 Beds).

The care delivered is of a very high standard and the whole team work closely to ensure all patient experience is positive, which includes .

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the sister/charge nurse at the Shand Stroke Unit in the management and delivery of patient centred care to patients admitted to the unit.  The role incorporates assessing needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, supporting and facilitating appropriate rehabilitation opportunities, safe discharges and promoting patient independence. 

The role will:

Support the senior sister/charge nurse to ensure that the unit to maintaining a safe and effective service at all times.

Communicate and work well within a multidisciplinary team.

Deliver person centre care to meet the assessed needs of patients and significant others.

Willingness to expand your Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation knowledge and best practice initiatives.
