Are you a vibrant Clinical or Forensic Psychologist / Senior Mental Health Practitioner looking to join a well-established, integrated CAMHS Children in Care team working to make a real difference to the lives of young people and their caregivers? Are you seeking a more senior role with excellent supervision, support, and opportunity to develop your experience, knowledge and skills?

This post is a specialist, targeted CAMHS CiC role with a specific focus on providing a trauma-informed service to Trafford’s children in residential care and those on the Edge-of-Care. Trafford currently hosts two children’s residential units, one of which is complemented by an Edge-of-Care service which provides multiagency support to children and their families who are at-risk of being placed into local authority care. The partnership includes Social Care, Education, and Police working together to reduce this risk and improve outcomes. The successful candidate will form part of the multiagency partnership to provide a dedicated CAMHS service including training, consultation, advice and support, and multiagency liaison. The postholder will also contribute to multiagency care planning around risk and safeguarding, impact risk assessments, and individual mental health and risk assessment and intervention. There will be a specific focus on supporting the teams to further develop their trauma-informed, relationship-based approach to service provision.

This post sits within the well-established Trafford CAMHS for Children in Care team, with strong links into Trafford CAMHS and the wider MFT CAMHs directorate. As such you will have access to a wide range of colleagues, training, and research opportunities.

As the Senior Clinical or Forensic Psychologist / Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will work as a team with others, including an Educational Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist, working with the team to offer trauma, adversity and attachment-based formulation plus some direct clinical work and clinical supervision. The team emphasis is on building relationships with young people, their caregivers and networks which are much wider than traditional clinic based CAMH working relationships. For this reason, each member of the team will be able to work flexibly.
