Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

In partnership with King’s College London we have dedicated clinical research facilities including an MHRA accredited Phase I clinical trials unit.

The directorates will support successful candidates to complete a 2 year ANA programme at Coventry University (CU) (London Campus).
Successful candidates will commence the programme in May 2024 and be committed to complete the programme in two years.
You must be an employee at GSTT including RBH & HH to be able to apply for these posts.
To fulfil the requirement for the apprenticeship standards, you must have standalone pass certificates in Maths and English at level 2 or above (or equivalent).
All short listed applicants will be invited to sit the CU Maths and English test on 29/02/2024 (further details will be given nearer to this date).
You will be required to bring with you the original copies of your Maths and English certificates on this date (29/02/2024).

Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a
Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on
setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.
Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS and
Trust Values.
Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that
focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities
to a high standard and competency, under the direction and
supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals
dependent on setting.
Work with a mentor/supervisor to take responsibility for developing own
clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the
workplace, while on placements and through attending the Apprentice
Nursing Associate programme.
Develop by the end of the Apprentice Nursing Associate programme
the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care.

The apprentice will undertake the following duties dependent on clinical area:
Develop understanding of all elements of the nursing process and be
able to assist the registered nurse in the on-going assessment,
planning, management and evaluation of care.
Support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living,
providing person-centered care and promoting health and independence
through awareness raising and care navigation to other professionals
as appropriate.
Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure,
temperature, respirations and heart rate.
Undertake clinical tasks including cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs.
Accurately record nutritional and fluid intake.
Develop understanding of safe storage and administration of medicines
to achieve relevant competence in medicines management.
Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all
times.
Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice
and guidance from the Registered Nurse or other registered care
professionals as appropriate.
Report back and share information with the registered nurses on the
condition, behavior, activity and responses of individuals.
Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and
adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate
registered care professionals.
