Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and talented Assistant General Manager to join the Cancer centre team. The postholder will be responsible for supporting outpatient and daycare services in the cancer centre.
The successful candidate will have strong operational management experience and will be expected to provide operational leadership for their department. The postholder will be responsible for the day to day running of the service, Cancer Centre site management, effective management of budgets, workforce, performance and service improvements.
Candidates should have experience of working closely with multidisciplinary teams, leading service developments, data management and staff management. We are looking for a leader who can demonstrate effective communication skills, team working, excellent problem solving abilities and strong values based in line with the UCLH Trust values.
The Trust’s purpose-built University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre houses outpatients and day care cancer services, a dedicated teenage and young adult cancer service, and a private patients’ facility run by HCA International.

Reporting to the Cancer Centre General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will support the senior management team with operational leadership across the wide-range of services.
The role is key to ensuring the successful delivery of excellent care to patients across the centre with a focus on optimising pathways, site management, Epic optimisation, recording and reporting and data management. The role manages the large Cancer Centre patient facing administrative team. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership to the service as well as operational, project and performance support as and when required by the Division.
This post is well supported by a matron, and management team and has plentiful opportunities to interface with other teams and services within the organisation. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to improving services, and a passion for patient-centred care. This would be an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to broaden their operational leadership experience, whilst also gaining exposure to strategic leadership within the Cancer Division.
