Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic, suitably qualified Physiotherapist to join and help lead the Musculoskeletal (MSK) Outpatient Physiotherapy service at University College Hospital (UCH).
Your caseload will be a mix of orthopaedic and rheumatology patients including those with complex chronic musculoskeletal conditions, fractures, post-op rehabilitation and sports injuries.
You will be expected to have previous MSK experience at Band 6/7 level including Orthopaedic and Rheumatology patients. Ideal candidates will have a range of manual, communication, clinical reasoning and rehabilitative skills appropriate to the caseload and will be expected to provide an accountable, high quality physiotherapy service. A knowledge of hydrotherapy would be advantageous.
There is no weekend or on-call working associated with this post.

The successful candidate will be working alongside other senior clinicians to help co-ordinate and evaluate the MSK Physiotherapy service with opportunities to advance and progress service development. You will work to the highest standards to facilitate evidence-informed patient care, playing a key role in implementing, facilitating and developing physiotherapy best practice in line with local and national guidelines.
You should demonstrate evidence of ongoing CPD, knowledge of current legislation, good interpersonal, communication and clinical skills and the ability to work in a flexible manner. As a skilled clinician and leader, you will be able to prove your ability to assist in the education, training and supervision of less experienced physiotherapy staff as well as other allied health and medical colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Allied to your clinical work will be managerial and administrative duties, which may include the operational management of the UCH hydrotherapy pool and rehabilitation groups. You will have responsibility for supervising and appraising junior staff and for mentoring student physiotherapists. You will be well supported in all your roles by our Senior Leadership Team which consists of Heads of Service, Consultant Physiotherapists, Clinical Specialists and other Band 7 Therapists.

Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HPC registration
- Completion of post-registration course in MSK Physiotherapy
- Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within MSK Physiotherapy, e.g. post registration training, management competencies and evidence of a detailed personal development portfolio.
- Awareness of current evidence pertaining to MSK Physiotherapy and application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
Desirable criteria

Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration work/experience as a physiotherapist including significant experience with a variety of Orthopaedic, Neurosurgical, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal referrals.
- Experience of working at at least a Band 6 level in NHS MSK OP Services
- Experience in Hydrotherapy services
- Experience in leading group-based rehabilitation services
- Experience and ability of working in an acute hospital setting.
- Experience of teaching both uni and multi-disciplinary staff with experience of high-quality presentations.
