We are looking for a qualified Midwife to undertake a one day a week secondment at the NIHR Oxford Health Clinical Research Facility (OHCRF). This secondment will focus on supporting a clinical research study in women with post-partum depression. This trial is supported by the NIHR and is a collaboration between industry and the NHS.
The secondment is available to Oxford Health or Oxford University Hospitals staff working in research or clinical roles. This development opportunity is open to Band 7 staff, with pay at existing banding. Responsibilities and support will be tailored accordingly, to the one day a week role.
The secondment is currently planned to run until June 2024, so will be appropriate for staff members who could start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing OHCRF team and study Principal Investigator. They will help with the assessment, screening, and care of potential participants throughout the study. They will also have an opportunity to learn more about clinical research and mental and cognitive health.

Some of the main duties of the role are listed below:
- You will provide holistic patient and participant care within a variety of settings, from assessment of presenting condition through to diagnosis, initial treatment, and discharge, including the administration of medication within agreed clinical guidelines and protocols.
- The post holder may share responsibility for assessing the feasibility, capability, and capacity of new commercial and non-commercial clinical trials under consideration at the OHCRF and across the wider Research Delivery Teams (RDTs).
- Be aware of meeting national targets and work with the directorate and stakeholders to achieve these.
- Act as a resource for the non-medical team within the Research department, directorate, the Trust and the wider health community as required.
- To always act in a professional manner. in accordance with professional body.
- To actively engage in the teaching, mentorship and supervision of junior staff and students

Would you like to be part of finding treatments for the future at the NIHR OXFORD COGNITIVE HEALTH CLINICAL RESEARCH FACILITY?
As a Band 7 Specialist Midwife, working on secondment in the only Mental Health CRF in the UK, you would be part of our friendly, multidisciplinary team, offering our research participants exceptional care as they follow their study journey.
A variety of research studies are currently run at The Oxford Cognitive Health Clinical Research Facility (OH CRF) in Warneford: from National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and other grant funded studies through to commercial clinical trials. Studies include observational cohort studies through to CTIMPs, covering a wide variety of disease indications from healthy volunteers to those suffering from specific conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, and dementia
- All new starters have a thorough induction process, both local and Trust wide, which aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
