Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Aneurin Bevan yw enw gweithredol Bwrdd Iechyd Lleol Prifysgol Aneurin Bevan. Sefydlwyd y Bwrdd Iechyd ar 1 Hydref 2009 ac mae’n cynnwys ardaloedd Blaenau Gwent, Caerffili, Sir Fynwy, Casnewydd, Torfaen a De Powys.

Deputy Head of Service, Clinical Photography & Medical Illustration -
To manage the provision of a professional, cost effective, efficient clinical and allied clinical photographic and graphic design service to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The job holder will also practise as a specialist clinical photographer, having physical contact with patients to obtain diagnostic images.
Undertake a wide range of multi-skilled illustrative duties in clinical, and research photography, video, reprographics, general photography, digital imaging, medical graphics, scientific poster production and patient information.

Operational / Managerial
- Responsible to the Head of Department for the effective delivery of photography (clinical and non-clinical) to ABUHB.
- Working autonomously and guided by principles and broad occupational policies ensure the maintenance of specialist photographic services, to the highest standards.
- Maintain expertise as a specialist clinical photographer across a range of disciplines, undertake all aspects of clinical photography for diagnosis, record teaching, research and medico-legal purposes.
- Monitor and maintain professional standards and the quality of all photographic services.
- Monitors workload of self and other team members on a daily basis, modifying schedules at short notice to allow for unexpected (e.g. theatre calls and off site requests) and staff absences.
- Anticipates and identifies gaps and pressures in the photography service and proposes solutions e.g. reorganises staff rotas etc.
- Responsible for visible leadership across the photography service.
- Organises the team working ensuring staff are allocated appropriately, anticipates and identifies gaps and pressures in the service and proposed solutions e.g. reorganises rotas to ensure service demands are met.
- Manages staff including assigning and reviewing work, appraisals and CPD.
- Leads the developments and implementation of innovative working practices / procedures (policies) in the photography section to reflect service and user needs and propose changes which impact across the Health Board.
- Provides expert advice to departmental colleagues and other healthcare professionals to ensure methods, techniques and equipment used are appropriate for the tasks required.
- Analyses, judges and advises on client requests, general department workflows and specialist clinical photographic workflows, identifying and resolving complex equipment, imaging system and process problems as well as related personnel issues.
- Responsible for the safe use of highly specialised camera and imaging systems.
- Responsible for the evaluation, selection, and validation of new equipment.
- Ensure the maintenance of all photographic equipment used throughout the department.
- Together with the Head of Department develop and maintain, in conjunction with the Trust’s Information Technology department, a networked computer system for the secure storage and delivery of clinical and non-clinical images across ABUHB.

- Maintain a computerised information management system to provide the Head of Department with statistical information about photographic services.
- Assist the Head of Department to manage a cost-efficient photography service within the financial constraints of the directorate, Clinical Board and ABUHB.
- Manages equipment maintenance and repair.
- Authorised signatory for expenses, approves Oracle requests for the photography section and deputises for the Head of Service as an authorised signatory for department requisitions.
- Monitor working methods and develop strategies to ensure the efficient use of all resources within the medical photography section.
- Establish and maintain an effective stock management system.
- Manage absence within the photography section.
Supervision and Training
- To ensure the implementation and monitoring of the on-job training of trainee medical photographers. Ensure that senior clinical photographers implement training regimes.
- Undertake staff appraisal and performance review of staff.
- To supervise, support, guide, assist in the development of and assess the competency of junior staff.
- Undertakes recruitment and selection of new staff in collaboration with Head of Department, providing an induction programme for new employees.
- Identifies training needs within the photographic section and takes the lead role in the provision / organising staff training and development based on the identified needs.

- Masters Qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent level of experience.
- Post graduate certificate in Clinical Photography.
- Registered Medical Illustration Practitioner.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of clinical photography in all clinical environments and a sound knowledge of clinical conditions, anatomy and physiology.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of photographic procedures and policies.
- Demonstrate details knowledge of appropriate legislation surrounding consent, copyright and data protection.
- Demonstrate creativity in the interpretation of client briefs, both clinical and non-clinical.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of computer networking.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of current trends in the NHS and Medical Photography profession.
