Band 6 Paediatric Nurse Maternity Cover post.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join T11 North, caring for young children aged 1-2 years and their families with an oncology diagnosis.
This is a part time 18.75 hrs per week 10 month fixed term contract.
Are you ready to take the next step to become a band 6 or you may already be a band 6 looking for a new job? We are looking for experienced band 5/6 paediatric nurses with at least 2 years oncology/haematology experience, (ideally chemotherapy competent).
T11 North care for patients undergoing a range of treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, proton beam and Molecular radiation treatment.
At a band 6 level we are looking for confident staff with leadership, development and organisation skills in order to coordinate safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group and work within our team.
Our unit is committed to the care of young children and their families going through a difficult time in their lives. We have a group of dedicated nurses who aim to make the ward a pleasant environment. We work very closely with our MDT colleagues to provide family centred and holistic care.

- To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centred care to the children and families.
- To promote family centred care and establish good relationships with children and their families.
- To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
To work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as the nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:
- Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients, clients and families acting as their advocate when necessary within the multi-disciplinary team
- The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
- To provide a high standard of nursing care and develop existing knowledge and skills and personal/ward management and leadership ability.
- To be designated to take charge of the ward as required by the sister holding continuing responsibility for the management of the ward department
- To act as a nursing resource giving advice and support to patients and staff where competent, as described in standard and local operational policies.
- To support the trust bed manager and ward sisters in facilitating patient bed allocation and effective unit coordination

- • Accredited mentorship course or willing to undertake
- • Relevant accredited clinical course (oncology/haematology 30 credits OR equivalent) or working towards
