Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Project Officer to work as part of a dynamic team in providing comprehensive day-to-day project support across the Office of the Chief Medical Officer at GSTT. Reporting to the Senior Delivery Manager, the post holder will work closely with the Project Management Team and Senior Leadership Team (including the Deputy Chief Medical Officers) providing high level support with the delivery of their key initiatives and objectives.
The post holder will provide specific support for projects and key programmes of work including supporting meetings and providing business/project administration. Experience of facilitating and organising educational events is desired but not essential as full training will be provided.
The post holder will require well developed organisational skills and the ability to communicate to a high level. The role requires the exercise of initiative and sound judgement in order to coordinate work effectively across the office. The post holder will be highly-motivated, organised and self-sufficient, with the ability to work under pressure with strict, often competing deadlines.

Bringing experience of project support the post holder will support a team of project managers to deliver projects across a range of programmes such as training activities, networking events and more and support evaluation and audit of projects across sites and organisations.
The postholder will provide support for project meetings, ensuring that regular meetings are established, reports are produced and disseminated in a timely way and actions are followed up.
There will be a requirement to communicate information on the delivery progress of the project(s) to key stakeholders as required.

The GSTT Chief Medical Officer is a board-level executive and the Trust’s most senior medical advisor. He is directly responsible to the Chief Executive and shares the board’s responsibility for the quality of services provided, the strategic direction and the financial well-being of the Trust. He is responsible for all matters related to the medical and allied health professional (AHP) workforce, including professional support, professional development and leadership, education, clinical governance and quality and safety.
The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (Office) supports the Trust’s clinical workforce in achieving the highest possible standards of clinical care and involves medical and AHP staff in the management, development and delivery of all services across the organisation. The Office supports the development of the Trust’s expanding cadre of clinical leaders and plays a key role in collaborating with executive and clinical colleagues in the delivery of the GSTT clinical strategy.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Project Management
- Support the development of project plans and the delivery of agreed milestones and objectives.
- Provide project support to the individuals in the project team.
- Organise project meetings, ensuring that regular meetings are established, reports are produced and disseminated in a timely way and actions are followed up – adjusting plans to accommodate complex and changing priorities.
- Set up and maintain risk and issues logs. Working closely with more senior project leads to monitor and address risks and issue resolution to ensure projects deliver to time, quality and cost.
- Lead service level workshops with admin, management and clinical teams. Produce presentation material and follow up information to introduce change projects and delivery plans.
- Communicate information on the delivery progress of the project(s) to key stakeholders as required.
- Draft highlight and exception reports when required, tracking milestones, for circulation to more senior project leads
- Co-ordinate minutes, agendas and papers for distribution in preparation for OCMO meetings, ensuring this is done in a timely manner.
- Support evaluation and audit of projects across sites and organisations.
