Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse (RN Adult) to join our integrated 7 day Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) service. The post is based in our nursing team working across all three of our well established clinics providing a level 3 Sexual and Reproductive Health service in Lambeth and Southwark.
Our clinics are based in Blackfriars (Burrell Street), Elephant and Castle (Walworth Road), and in Streatham Hill. Staff will be working across all 3 sites.
We are looking for candidates who want to develop their clinical skills but also to develop their portfolios with clinical audits, QIPS and support clinical research with SRH.
Our services pride themselves in staff development and safe care delivery for both staff and patients and you will be supported by receiving regular clinical supervision, practice feedback with peer review and opportunity to undertake projects that you will present to the department.
Please note unfortunately this post is not suitable for newly qualified nurses as we are not yet able to support the preceptorship program.
Prior experience in sexual health is a desired requirement, but not essential.
This role requires weekend working currently 1 in every 6 weeks, we work 8-4 on Saturday and Sunday. Weekends are worked at the Burrell Street site only.

Having a keen interest in Sexual Health, you will be provided with all the necessary in-house training to enable you to manage your own patient cases independently, covering sexual health history taking, examinations, diagnostics and treatment and follow up care. Our nursing team are involved with the provision of PrEP medication and the associated monitoring. As you become established you will be involved with our contraceptive services and the use of PGDs for common STI treatment.
To help you achieve these skills, we have in house training documents and staff members who will support you to develop professionally.

Clinic duties are diverse - as well as the duties detailed above, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the day to day management of the clinic, nurse in charge role and partake in quality improvement projects and/or audits. Our nurses take on extra roles for example Infection Prevention and Control Link Nurse, Pharmacy Link Nurse, involvement in the Safeguarding team.
