The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) is one of the largest trusts in the country. Through four main hospitals we provide a comprehensive range of hospital-based medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric and gynaecological services to the 700,000 people of Lincolnshire.
We provide a wide range of healthcare services delivered by 8,600 highly trained staff and volunteers. Our services cost over £400m each year to provide and we invest around £18m each year in improving our clinical services by replacing and upgrading our medical equipment, modernising our estate and facilities and improving our information and technology infrastructure. In an average year, we treat more than 180,000 A&E patients, nearly half a million outpatients and almost 100,000 inpatients.

VACANCY –BAND 3/4 Therapy Assistant practitioner
(ORTHOPAEDICS TEAM)
PERMANENT CONTRACT 37.5 hours
We are recruiting multiple , Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner who will work alongside our therapies and wider orthopaedic teams being part of the trustwide orthopaedic centre of excellence at Grantham and District hospital. Your role will involve developing a mix of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy skills to assist patients, who have had elective surgery, with their recovery and discharge.
The job is joint venture with nursing so there is the expectation that the successful candidate will be working a nursing style roster pattern to include, long and short days plus weekends. Training and ongoing support and development in role will be provided by Therapy services. This allows these roles to be a more flexible style of working and to meet the needs of the service.

A Band 3-4 transitional post will be considered for those with less experience, with the aim to progress to Band 4 following completion of competencies within a 6-month period.
Duties will include:
Undertaking highly skilled support work assessing and treating patients to aid the rehabilitation of patients that are admitted to the orthopaedic wards.
To accept patients referred by the Physiotherapist/ Occupational Therapist and carry as own patient caseload.
To use clinical judgment and freedom, within the scope of practice, and be able to work independently and flexibly without direct supervision but to receive access to regular supervision from the therapies team.
Treat patients on the wards according to set treatment protocols, monitoring progression and make minor alterations as required.
To be responsible for the management of delegated case load of patients maintaining appropriate records.
To contribute to providing a professional service, working effectively as an integral team member.
The post will be full time (37.5 hours a week) and will work as part of the nursing roster which can be variable shift patterns including weekends
