to work within Coventry Community Mental Health Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 CBT Therapists or Psychological Therapists to join our Coventry Community Mental Health Team. The service works with people with complex trauma and mental health presentations.
Our CBT therapists, psychological therapists and psychologists are embedded within the Community Mental Health Team and we are therefore looking for someone who values and enjoys multi-disciplinary working and has a high level of understanding of the distinct contribution and added value that psychological approaches can make to the team.

We are looking for CBT therapists or psychological therapists who can provide evidence-based therapies for individuals with complex mental health presentations, which include a history of trauma. Being able to deliver CBT Therapies is essential to these posts.
The post will involve providing assessments and psychological interventions to individuals presenting with a wide range of complex mental health difficulties. There will also be opportunities to offer consultation to the MDT.
The post holder will join a friendly and well-established team of CBT therapists, psychological therapists, psychologists an assistant psychologist and mental health and wellbeing practitioners. The team also work closely with psychological professionals in the psychosis pathway and psychotherapists in the Personality and Complex Trauma Pathway.
The post holders will be based at Swanswell Point in Coventry.
The team of Psychological Therapists are dedicated to high quality, evidence-based service provision, including EMDR, Trauma-focused CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
Staff from the Coventry service have close links with other psychological therapists working within the other locality Community Mental Health Teams.
The service are also dedicated to taking part in research and have been one of the recruiting sites for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded SPS study at Imperial College London.

Qualifications Band 7 CBT Therapist
Essential criteria
- Undergraduate degree /Relevant Professional Qualification i.e RMN Current registration with Professional Body appropriate to qualifications
- Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Relevant further training and experience including specialist short courses which are relevant to a secondary care team e.g. Complex Trauma, Personality disorders, CFT, ACT, BDD to masters or equivalent level
- Evidence of continuing professional development and other CPD relevant to the client group.
- Experience working with people with clients with anxiety disorders, depression and personality disorders and demonstrating the competences as required.
- Registration as an accredited CBT Therapist with BABCP or able to show evidence that you are in the final stages of the registration and accreditation process and can achieve this within a maximum of 6 months of employment.
Knowledge and Skills- Band 7 CBT Therapist
Essential criteria
- Specialist model specific and individualised psychological assessment, formulation and Intervention skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of CBT
- Supervision skills
- Knowledge of psychological theory and practice relevant to IPU 3-8 services
- The ability to analyse complex data and make expert judgements based on Information from a variety of sources
- Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for working CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007)
Experience- Band 7 CBT Therapist
Essential criteria
- Experience in psychological therapy in the field of adult mental health settings, including assessment, formulation and interventions, drawing on a evidence based psychological models and knowledge, and including work with service users with mild, moderate, severe and enduring mental health problems, including anxiety, depression and/or personality disorder
- Experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and positive risk management
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Demonstrates high standards in written communication
- Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
- Experience with routine outcome monitoring
- Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
