Job overview
We have 5 exciting Research Nurse vacancies within our Clinical Research Teams.
These are:
- Respiratory Research – 37.5 hours per week, permanent position, Freeman Hospital
- Hepatology Research - 37.5 hours per week, permanent position, Freeman Hospital
- Dermatology Research - 37.5 hours per week, permanent position, Royal Victoria Infirmary
- Cardio/Transplant Research - 37.5 hours per week, permanent position, Freeman Hospital
- Oncology & Haematology Research – 22.5 hours per week, permanent position, Freeman Hospital
These are clinical patient facing posts, which requires dynamic individuals who can work both individually and as part of a team. Research nurses are supported to develop professionally and lead on their own caseload of projects under the guidance of the Principle Investigator and Senior Research nurses.
The teams are involved in clinical trials involving new medicines, interventions, and observational studies. Each team has a strong MDT focus on enabling patients to access research studies through clinical care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To participate in the creation and maintenance of a high-quality clinical research environment.
- To initiate and manage nursing activities related to academic studies and clinical trials, from initiation to termination, according to ICH good clinical practice guidelines.
- Supervise junior members of the team.

- Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch)
- Academic attainment at diploma level and prepared to undertake degree level study
- Meets Nursing and Midwifery council requirements for mentorship

- Academic attainment at degree/masters’ level

- An understanding of the application of research in the clinical governance agenda
- An understanding of research governance and the research process
- Substantial post registration experience in clinical speciality area and/or clinical research delivery
- Evidence of research activity and ability to demonstrate research competency
