Job overview

The NHSCFA Technology function develops, secures, supports and operates IT systems, Hardware and Cloud Infrastructure to underpin NHSCFA business operations. Business critical back-office and internet deployed digital applications are provided to support Internal business streams and external stakeholders. The NHSCFA are on a journey to become a multi-sourcing digital orientated business, transforming and modernising their delivery of IT systems and business outcomes. These systems currently support approximately 200 internal users and 4,000+ external users. Furthermore, the NHSCFA are investigating the use of Machine Learning / Data Science to facilitate the future identification and prevention of fraud against the NHS. The Head of Technology will be responsible for setting the Strategic Direction (Digital Strategy) of the Technology function, ensuring an agile approach to meet evolving business needs.

This is a critical role leading all aspects of the function with accountability for 4 Technology workstreams (Infrastructure Services, User Support Services, Information and Cyber Security, and Digital Development).
As the Technology subject matter expert, participation at Executive / Board level discussions will be required; to ensure that this Business-Critical function is intrinsically considered when discussing the day-to-day operations and ongoing needs of the business. A strategic mindset with a strong technical background, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire others is therefore essential.
The Head of Technology is a strategic leadership and management role within the NHS Counter Fraud Authority, responsible for providing leadership, management, co-ordination and strategic direction setting across the technology and digital portfolio.

Developing and maintaining an effective technology function, capable of exploring and implementing new disruptive technologies alongside more established technology which underpins all business functions
Developing and implementing the digital strategy, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including 3rd party suppliers, to provision entirely fit for purpose and cost-effective technology services.
Leading strategic technology programmes and projects, planning for improvement initiatives, clearly outlining milestones, risks and outcome measures, ensuring programme activities are aligned and coordinated to maximise delivery benefit across multiple improvement workstreams.
Establishing technology as a driver and an enabler for the development and delivery of organisational strategies and business plans.
Leading collaboration with Finance and the Department for Health & Social Care (DHSC) to secure the benefits of financial investment in technology

- A subject matter expert in the technology field, with highly developed specialist knowledge that is continually updated as new trends emerge and bets practises are updated
- Design, implementation and support of a range of complex ICT systems
