We have exciting opportunities for 5 Apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Talking Therapies service for Anxiety and Depression. HEI is running a pilot and for this recruitment candidates with a full level 4 qualification will be considered for the role.
For Pilot Candidates, the University of Exeter will be considering those with a full level 4 qualification. As part of this there will be additional elements to the recruitment process which involve an assessment assignment to demonstrate both academic and theory into practice skills to evidence an ability to study at a level 6 requirement. If you are successfully shortlisted, there will be an interview with the University of Exeter and further instruction around demonstrating these skills. The suitability to study at level 6 will be determined by the University of Exeter.
Post holders will be based in one of three Integrated Care Areas in Cornwall: West, Mid and East/North. At interview your base preference will be asked. This is an IN COUNTY role as successful candidates will be providing IN PERSON treatment.
Interviews will be held IN PERSON IN COUNTY. You will need to bring evidence of your Level 2 Maths and English qualifications. Please note: If this is not present we will not be able to continue with the interview process. If you are successful at this interview, you will then attend a further interview with the University of Exeter.
The Apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner course starts on 17th September 2024.
We recognise the importance of providing a mental health service for our community experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and depression. NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Talking Therapies provide Step 2 and 3 interventions, as part of the NHS Talking Therapies stepped care model for the residents of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. It is an exciting time to join the team as we grow and develop to deliver a high-quality psychological therapy service which is forward thinking and innovative.
This PWP Apprentice post is a training role within the NHS Talking Therapies Programme. The post-holder will work within the service providing low intensity interventions at Step 2, whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post-holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider (2 days per week), as specified within National Low Intensity curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining 3 days of the week, using their newly-developed skills

Apprentice PWP's will develop skills in providing assessment and low Intensity CBT interventions, using the principles of guided self-help in line with the NICE-recommended stepped care model, this includes cCBT, psychoeducational courses and individual sessions.
As an Apprentice PWP you will complete 1:1 service suitability assessments with patients and 1:1 treatment appointment over the phone, face to face or by video appointment on Attend Anywhere.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

We are a busy Talking Therapies service within the South West of England. We employ over 100 therapists who are passionate about delivering clinically informed mental health support following the Talking Therapies manual and NICE guidance.
You will be joining a friendly team of PWPs, High Intensity CBT therapists, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Psychological Therapies (Counselling for Depression, Couples Therapy for Depression, IPT). We offer the opportunity to support the wellbeing of our diverse Cornish community, going out and meeting people to talk about the service we provide to reduce stigma and promote positive mental health. Successful applicants will have strong interpersonal skills, an understanding and experience of common mental health difficulties and how they present in primary care services, hold the relevant levels of academic study for the post.
Undertake patient-centred assessments which identify a patients mental health difficulty, following the stepped care model, and the areas they wish to see change.
Complete accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Provide information, signposting and evidence based clinical interventions in a variety of modes including face to face, telephone, video appointments, group based settings and computerised CBT programmes.
