Job overview
We would love for you to join our team! Are you currently working as a healthcare/maternity support worker within the Trust and aspire to be a Registered Midwife? This may be just the opportunity for you!
In partnership with University of Bedfordshire, we are very excited to be recruiting Midwifery BSc (3 year) Apprentices at both our Luton and Bedford sites. Not only will you receive a programme of high quality theoretical learning and clinical placement, but you will also receive a salary for the duration of your programme! On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be eligible to apply to the NMC for entry to the Midwifery register.
The programme alternates between block theory/practical placements. You will be based at the University Of Bedfordshire campus whilst undertaking your theory placements, and at either the Luton and Dunstable or Bedford site for your practical placements.
For further information please contact Rebecca Sims, Clinical Practice Facilitator Midwife on 01582 491166.
Advert
The apprentice will undertake an apprenticeship programme which leads to the attainment of a level 6 Degree in Midwifery, and Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The Midwifery Apprentice training programme combines both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers.
The Midwifery Apprentice will be based, as an employee, at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, in a specific setting, but will experience working in alternative organisations and settings in order that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.
The training programme emphasises the role that Midwifery Apprentices can play in life course (pre-conception to end of life) approaches towards health and well-being and the ways in which they actively contribute to the delivery of holistic care. Holistic care, across life course, is a whole-person approach which considers, and equally values, physical, psychological and public health needs, learning disabilities, social, economic, spiritual and other factors in the assessing, planning and delivery of care.
The overall outcome from the training programme is a Midwife that is fit to practice in the widest range of settings as well as being equipped with the specific knowledge, skills and capabilities required for the context in which they have trained and are employed.
