Job overview
Are you a passionate, hard working, friendly and experienced Mental Health Nurse Leader looking for a new opportunity within Acute care? Looking for a Band 8a Clinical Nurse Leadership role? We are looking for a Matron to join our hospital, covering three of our wards, working alongside both the leadership and ward teams. You will work alongside one other Matron whom covers our other two wards and the Health Based Place of Safety, together to lead high quality care and governance.
You will oversee the governance and quality for both inpatient wards and provide expertise and advice to the clinical team as appropriate. Working closely with the Ward Manager's, MDT and wider trust networks.
Caburn ward is 17 bedded acute ward.
Regency Ward is a 20 bedded acute ward.
Brunswick ward is our 10 bedded dementia ward.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
-Provide strong clinical leadership, to use the authority of the role to assert the needs of patients and carers within the clinical setting.
- Ensure systems are in place to actively promote patient and carer involvement. Which respond constructively to suggestion or complaint.
- Provide and audit individual, group and clinical supervision to Ward Managers, senior staff and multi-professional staff as required.
- Ensure patients have advice and treatment available regarding their physical health as well as mental health. This includes smoking cessation, and obesity, and long-term conditions.
- Lead – in collaboration with the specialist infection control nurse - on all practices that increase hospital cleanliness and infection control measures
-Support General managers in strategic planning to meet the requirements of the service.
- Ensure that the delivery of care including basic procedures meet the requirement of NICE guidelines, the NSF, the Essence Of Care and evidence-based practice and any other relevant national guidance.
- Monitor, report and act upon any clinical risks associated with change processes or financial constraints. The Matron will be the key lead in the monitoring of recommendations of any reports or Serious Untoward Incidents (SUI).
-To take a lead role in the development of clinically based policies and procedures for the relevant service area.
